"I have watched your show that Dr. Mays DuBose was on from Sumter. I can tell you that he is so insightful to his patients. He is my mother's doctor NOW in Sumter. He got her through a very difficult time in March and in April. She is now doing much better. He does know his stuff when it comes to dementia and Alzheimer's. Thank you for having him on the show." -Carol Elliott, Chapin
SENIOR CONNECTIONS LAUNCHES ITS SECOND YEAR!

Monarch Productions is proud to announce that Senior Connections has had monumental success in the Midlands area and will continue to develop new broadcasts throughout the 2009 calendar year. Topics to be covered will include reverse mortgages, funeral home services, the Silver Haired Legislature and energy trends with SCE&G.
On Jan. 1, 2008, Monarch Productions launched the first 30-minute program targeted toward seniors and those dealing with senior issues in the Midlands, titled Senior Connections. The program, airing on WACH FOX 57 on Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m., has covered a monumental amount of issues in 2008, including:
- What you need to know about your pharmacy
- Podiatry – preventive foot health
- Trends in geriatric medicine
- Senior lifestyles – dating, Harley enthusiasts, etc.
- The CAPS Program – remodeling your home for senior lifestyles
- Long-term care insurance
- Medical technologies for senior care and medication management
“As we launch the second year of Senior Connections we’re making changes to improve on the success we have seen so far. We’ve added content to our Web site and even though we have already completed 22 shows in 2008, there is still a wealth of information to convey to area seniors,” commented Janet Haladay, co-host and creator of Senior Connections.
|
Senior Connections is co-hosted by Margie Toms, another Columbia resident who has been heavily involved in community issues over the years, not only as a nurse but as an advocate still active in the caregiving community. “I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming response in the senior community. The number of calls and e-mails we receive on a weekly basis proves that there is a dire need in the Midlands area for more information and more in-depth coverage of critical issues.”
The show can be seen on analog signal 57, cable channel 6 and digital channel 820.
