There's a restaurant in the Midlands that is a secret!

In fact, it's called The Secret Garden located at 1119 Methodist Park Road in West Columbia and they're serving some of the freshest food around.

Many of the ingredients that they cook will come right from owner Sonny "I.P." Poole's own farm or another local farm helping to give the dishes big flavor.

On this week's "Food Friday," our Natalie Parsons tries their Fried Squash, Mac and Cheese, Pan Fried Chicken, Peach Cobbler and Pecan Pie.

Poole and his wife Janice show us how they cook their Fried Squash and Fried Chicken in either a small frier or cast-iron skillet allowing them to change up the oil between dishes which helps food have a more crispy taste and crunchy flake feel.

Poole has been a certified farmer all his life while his wife specializes in cooking southern cuisine.

This isn't the first restaurant this couple has owned.

The pair actually went into a brief period of retirement to later decide that it wasn't for them and that was when The Secret Garden became a vision initially starting out as a greenhouse.

For more information about The Secret Garden please view the FULL "Food Friday" segment above and be sure to visit the restaurant's Facebook page.

If you know of a restaurant in the Midlands that you think should be featured on WACH FOX's "Food Friday" please send an email to Natalie Parsons at ngparsons@wach.com.
