79th Annual Miss South Carolina is Saturday

COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) - Each year, more than 50 young women from around the state compete to win the most prestigious title in South Carolina.
This year is 79th year of the event, which is Saturday June 27th at the Township Auditorium in Columbia from 8pm-10:30pm.
Sinclair Broadcast Group is excited to be able to bring the 2015 Miss South Carolina Pageant back LIVE into the homes of the people of the Palmetto State. The broadcast will be available to more than 1.5m households in the state on stations in Columbia, Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Savannah and Greenville.
Miss America 2015, Kira Kazantsev, will be in Columbia this week for the Miss South Carolina Pageant.
The Miss South Carolina Scholarship Organization's mission is to advance the creation, promotion and support of community service and educational opportunities for young women in the State of South Carolina while providing a forum in which to express their opinions, talent and intelligence.
This organization is the largest state supplier of scholarship opportunities to young women under the Miss America Organization. They provide over $24 million scholarships to fund contestantâ??s education, showing their dedication to empowering young women across the state.
Each of the contestants compete in the preliminaries Tuesday, June 23 through Thursday, June 25, 2015.
The final night of competition will held on Saturday, June 27, 2014. All competitions will be held once again at the Township Auditorium in Columbia, South Carolina.
The contestants vying for the titles of Miss South Carolina and Miss South Carolina Teen exemplify all that is best in todayâ??s modern woman. Miss South Carolina and Miss South Carolina Teen must be talented, intelligent and well-spoken. She is a leader with a strong commitment to her community. She understands the importance of health and fitness. She is a role model for millions of women not only for her spot-on sense of style and fashion, but also because she has become a relatable â??it girlâ?? who can connect with todayâ??s contemporary woman.
