OnPoint on WACH Fox: Women, activism and turning protest into progress

COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) - On this week's edition of OnPoint on WACH Fox we look at women, activism and turning protest into progress.

Since President Trump took of?ce eight months ago, there has been a large spike in activism among women all across the country.

Who can forget that less than 24 hours into the President’s term, millions of women took to the streets throughout the country and across the globe calling for equity on a wide range of issues like reproductive rights, employment and compensation, racial equality, access to health care, and support for public education.

But that’s not all. The number of women who are now gearing up to seek public of?ce is record-setting.

From November 9 to early July, roughly 15,000 women signed up for EMILY’s List Training on how to run for of?ce. That’s 16 times the 920 women who participated the previous two years. Suddenly, female activists seem to be everywhere -- organizing, rallying, joining and donating in what longtime leaders say are record numbers.
