Brittany Griswold named Teen to WACH

Safe Federal Credit Union teen to WACH

Sumter, S.C. (WACH) - WACH FOX is proud to highlight students excelling in and outside the classroom.

We introduce you to Safe Federal Credit Union teen to WACH - Brittany Griswold.

A senior at Lakewood High School, Brittany Griswold has always put her education first.

She is a member of four different extracurricular organizations, tutors children at a local elementary school, and is the captain of the varsity cheerleading team.

Through several years of hard work and determination, Griswold has maintained a 4.8 GPA and is third in her class.

I always kept education my first priority. If I needed to miss practice to make up a test, that's the first thing I did. If I needed to go to tutoring to catch up because I miss days. That's what I did.

Griswold's hard work at school hasn't gone unnoticed. Aliso Dew, a teacher at Lakewood High School, has known Griswold since she was in middle school.

It's been hard for her. She makes it looks so easy. There's been plenty of times she had sleepless nights and you know 18-hour days. And that's a big step at such a young age. So she works really hard for it."

Griswold has these words of advice for students:

Kids that are coming to high school, don't play around. Once your GPA gets down it's hard to get back up. And for really anyone, if you have a goal don't stop until you get there. And it's always good to set goals for yourself.

After graduation, Griswold plans to attend Central Carolina Technical College to study nursing.
