COLUMBIA (WACH) - As the Gamecocks get closer to a NCAA National Championship in Omaha, the winning spirit is being felt back in Columbia and is translating into big bucks for local businesses. The Carolina Ale House in Harbison is taking in more revenue than ever before. We TMve actually had a record breaking June since we TMve been open in 2006, said Lea Cooper, Marketing Director for Carolina Ale House.Cooper said the high sales are thanks to USC baseball and their loyal fans.I think they are kind of opening their wallet up just relaxing and having a good time, said Cooper.

We TMve been really really blessed here, sales have been terrific, said Greg Gerrans, Director of Operations at Carolina Ale House.

Gerrans said restaurants have taken a big hit in the down economy and the success of the Gamecocks is welcome relief.

Certainly it TMs terrific for the average employee. They work on tips, so it TMs allowing us to spend more money on labor. It helps put money in their pockets and helps get the economy going, said Gerrans.Making every win for the Gamecocks - a win for the local economy.
