COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Millions watch and wait to see the ball drop on New Year's Eve. But this year, local restaurants are expecting crowds of Gamecock fans to watch their team play ball.
Duncan Macrae, co-owner of Yesterday's in Five Points says, "Generally all the seats are full and the bar is full on New Years Eve. I have a feeling we are going to be a little more full because people want to go out and they will probably want to watch the game also especially if they are a Gamecock fan."
Over in the Vista at the Carolina Ale House, they are getting five times the call volume for reservations compared to last New Year's Eve.
General Manager Sean Maher says, "Due to the volume we're not really taking any more reservations but we left a large part of the restaurant open...so there will still be a huge portion available for people to come in without reservations."
Both restaurants are offering New Year's Eve specials to sweeten the deal.
