COLUMBIA (WACH) -- A program to boost the state's economy is pumping a lot of dollars into South Carolina.
The Centers of Economic Excellence Review Board announced over $300 million in investments and almost 5,000 higher paying jobs.
COEE provides state lottery money to help recruit top scientists and engineers to lead research programs.
Board members say thanks to the program companies have expanded their operations and relocated to parts of South Carolina.
"As this program continues to grow, as these companies that have brought and made their investment continue to invest more, it'll grow exponentially over time and we've expected that from day one," says ...
State lawmakers created the program seven years ago to stimulate research at Clemson, USC and the Medical University of South Carolina.
