ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) -- U.S. Rep. James Clyburn is speaking at the annual meeting of the South Carolina Academy of Science and its Junior Academy.
Organizers say the South Carolina Democrat is one of two keynote speakers taking part in the academy's meeting Saturday at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg.
Also expected to speak is Terry Michalske, director of the Savannah River National Laboratory at the Savannah River Site.
This year's meeting focuses on alternative energy. Workshop topics include green biofuel production, robotics and astronomy.
