COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The University of South Carolina announced the revisions of the contracts of two big names in USC athletics.
The Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees approved amendments for head football coach Steve Spurrier and head women's basketball coach Dawn Staley Friday.
Coach Spurrier will now make a guaranteed salary of $2.8 million in the next season. After that, his contract calls for increases through 2013.
Coach Staley's contract was extended for three years through the 2015-2016 season.
Both coaches were credited for their leadership and season records.
"Our football and women's basketball programs are both moving in the right direction under the leadership of Coach Spurrier and Coach Staley," said USC Athletics Director Eric Hyman. "They are both committed to taking their respective programs to the highest level and win championships. We are committed to providing them with the resources they need to be successful here."
Spurrier led the Gamecocks to the SEC Championship game and other noteworthy winds. He was named SEC Coach of the Year for his performance.
Staley advanced the team to the second round of the Women's NIT and finished with an 18-15 record.
