USC coach honored by Midlands faith-based group

      FORT JACKSON (WACH) -- It TMs a special honor for University of South Carolina TMs head baseball coach.

      Wednesday morning Ray Tanner getting an award from Healthy Learners at the Fort Jackson Golf Club.

      The group is a faith-based non-profit that addresses poverty at its root, so that future generations will not be affected by it.

      Organizers say Tanner is an advocate for children's well being and that his values mirrors Healthy Learners mission and vision.

      It hits your heart when you do something for children. It TMs all about reaching out to our young people to help them be successful in the classroom. Whether it TMs a dental appointment they need glasses whatever the case may be, the Healthy Learners will reach out and help these young people realize their full potential, says Ray Tanner, USC Head Baseball Coach.

      The ceremony was also part of The George Younginer Memorial Golf Tournament.
