COLUMBIA (WACH) -- USC students kicked off their national recycling competition Wednesday.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the patio at Russell House University Union, students participated in recycling games, green activities and shared information about recycling cans, bottles, paper and cardboard.
"Recycling is just important because if something goes to the landfill we don't have a chance to reuse those resources," says coordinator for environmental sustainability in USC housing "but if you recycle it a bottle can become a new bottle."
This is USCs second year participating in the competition, which continues until April 2.
USC RecycleMania student leaders say the goal is to beat Clemson again and improve in the national competition.
