      VP Biden set to visit Columbia Friday

      Joe Biden will make a stop in Columbia for the dedication of the Ernest F. Hollings Special Collections Library on the USC Campus.

      COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The Midlands is gearing up for a vice presidential visit Friday.

      Joe Biden will make a stop in Columbia for the dedication of the Ernest F. Hollings Special Collections Library on the USC Campus.

      Hollings and Biden served together in the U.S. Senate for 32 years and remain close friends.

      The city of Columbia has announced that some roads will be closed for the event.

      The 1400 block of Main Street has been closed since noon Thursday and will remain blocked off until noon Friday.

      The 600 and 700 blocks of Sumter Street will also be closed from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.
