1 dead in northwest Columbia shooting; suspect in custody
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) —
The Richland County Sheriff's Department has charged a man in a fatal shooting that occurred early Saturday morning.
The incident happened around 1 a.m. According to the department, deputies responded to a shots fired call near the 2000 block of Hertford Drive.
Dameon Farrand, 37, of Columbia was found unresponsive in the residence with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He died at the scene, with the gunshot wound causing his death.
Kevin Robinson, 42, was at the residence when deputies arrived. After being taken in for questioning, Robinson faces three charges:
- possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; and
- possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
