1 man arrested, 2 wanted in Five Points beating

Investigators also have outstanding an arrest warrant for Michael Jermel Kendrix, 21, who may have been involved in the incident.

COLUMBIA (WACH) - Mayor Steve Benjamin announced in a press conference in Five Points Thursday afternoon that Columbia Police Chief Randy Scott says an arrest has been made in one of the Five Points fights that occurred last Sunday.

Scott says Stanley McBride, 21, is charged with second degree assault and battery in connection with a physical altercation early Sunday morning in Five Points.

Investigators also have outstanding arrest warants for two other men, Michael Jermel Kendrix, 21, and John Cornelius Sumner, 21, who may have been involved in the incident.

Josh Bosworth suffered a broken jaw and a gash on his forehead after he was involved in a brawl with several men. Some of them continued to kick him when he was already on the ground.

Authorities believe McBride, Kendrix and Sumner were involved in the physical altercation around 2 a.m. Sunday in front of Bey's and Pop's New York Pizza on Harden Street.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing and more arrests are possible.
