10 years later family still looking for closure

Shivers was at this cash register when she was shot to death on November 30th, 2001.

Cayce (WACH) - The holidays are the hardest time of year for Stan Shivers. 10 years have passed since his wife Merry was murdered at this Piggly Wiggly on Charleston Highway.

"She was murdered right after thanksgiving; we had presents under the tree for Merry."

Cayce police don't consider this a cold case, in fact investigators say they're close to charging someone but are lacking a key piece of evidence to make this a slam dunk case.

"Do I want them out there on the street, absolutely not," said Cayce Public Safety Director Charles McNair. "But we have got to make sure we've got a good case, to where we can make it as airtight as we can. We just need a little bit more information."

That information can TMt come soon enough for Stan Shivers, who TMs family has been reliving this nightmare for 10 years.

"We want it to be resolved as quickly as possible, you know its been tough."

Shivers was killed four days shy of her 37th birthday, which turned out to be the day she was buried.

Piggly Wiggly is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the murder of Shivers. Her family also set up a Facebook page in her honor.
