GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities are charging a 12-year-old boy with involuntary manslaughter after a 15-year-old boy was shot to death at his Greenville home earlier this month.
Greenville County Master Deputy Jonathan Smith said investigators decided to charge the boy Friday after reviewing evidence from the Sept. 11 shooting.
Smith says the boy spoke to deputies the night of the shooting, but he and his family have not cooperated since. He says investigators are basing the charge on physical evidence, but didn't give details.
Authorities say Trayvon Dodd was shot once and was found dead in the backyard of a home. Smith says the gun was in the house legally and no one else is facing charges.
The boy is being charged as a juvenile and will have a Family Court hearing Monday.
