COLUMBIA (WACH) - A 16-year-old girl has not been seen for 20 days, according to officials with the Richland County Sheriff's Department.
Sheriff Leon Lott says Anafelicia "Ana" Miranda was last seen Friday, September 28 at Richland Northeast High School.
Authorities say Ana told family members that she wanted to spend the weekend with a male acquaintance and said she would return by Monday, October 1. No one has heard from her since her departure.
Lott says at the age of 16 in South Carolina a person cannot make the decision to leave home without the consent of their parents or legal guardian.
The sheriff says Ana may have left with Arturo Pereira Bravo, who is also known as Linch Bravo Pereina.
Bravo is described as a Hispanic male who is approximately 25 years old around 5-feet-10-inches tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds.
According to Lott, they may be traveling in a blue 2000 Mercury Sable with keypads on the door and South Carolina tag IKP-374.
Lott says it's possible Bravo may be headed to Georgia or Mexico.
The sheriff's department is working to determine if Miranda left willingly or if she is being forced to not have contact with her family.
Lott says her family believes she may be in danger.
Ana Miranda is described as a Hispanic female who is around 5-feet-6-inches tall with brown hair and brown eyes. She weighs approximately 150 pounds.
