GREENWOOD, S.C. (AP) -- A 17-year-old man has been charged with murder in a shooting that killed a teen and wounded four others at a weekend birthday party in Greenwood.
Authorities told The Index-Journal of Greenwood that they had evidence the teen was involved in the Saturday night shooting. But police wouldn't talk about what led them to arrest the suspect or give a motive for the killing.
The Associated Press typically does not identify juvenile crime suspects.
Investigators say as many as 50 people were at the party, but none of the witnesses saw who fired the shots. Officers at the jail nearby estimated hearing at least 20 shots.
The teen remains in jail. It wasn't known if he had an attorney.
