COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- The winner of this week's $1 million prize in South Carolina from the Mega Millions lottery says his wife fainted when she found out they won.
The South Carolina lottery said Friday that a Myrtle Beach man claimed the prize from matching all five white balls in Tuesday's drawing. If the winner had matched the Megaball as well, he would have won part of the $648 million jackpot.
The lottery did not release the man's name. Winners in South Carolina can remain anonymous.
Lottery officials say the man told his wife they won when she came home from work. He handed her the ticket, she checked the numbers and passed out.
The winner bought the quick pick ticket at the North Myrtle Beach Bi-Lo.
