20-year-old West Columbia man arrested in deadly shooting

COLUMBIA (WACH) â?? Lexingtonâ??s County Sheriff Department fugitive investigators arrested a 20-year old West Columbia man in a fatal shooting that occurred Monday, December 23.
Joshua Cody Young, 20, of Columbia is accused of shooting 19-year-old Shane Diquan Brooks after Young broke into Brooks home.
Young turned himself in to fugitive investigators at about 12p.m. on Tuesday at the offices of The Giese Law Firm in Columbia. Young turned himself in on charges of murder, first-degree burglary and possessing a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Young was being held on Tuesday at the Lexington County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing, said Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts.
Arrest warrants allege at about 3:55p.m. on Monday, Young, who was armed with a 9-mm Beretta 9000-S handgun, shot Shane Diquan Brooks after breaking into Brooksâ?? home.
The circumstances of the shooting and the motive for the burglary at Brooksâ?? home remain under investigation.
