KERSHAW COUNTY, SC (WACH)- A Richland County woman is in trouble with the law after being accused of having sex with a 14 year old boy.
Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews said Keri Spires, believed to be from Richland County, was arrested and charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct after the mother of the boy contacted the Kershaw County Sheriff's Department, saying Spires had engaged in sexual activity with her son on more than one occasion. The encounters are said to have taken place at the boy's home in Lugoff.
A Kershaw County investigator confirmed Spires was 21-years old. Spires came into the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office Friday to meet with an investigator about the case. After the interview Spires was booked.
Sheriff Matthews said this kind of case is not common. "Most criminal sexual conduct cases involve a male suspect. Women also need to realize that it is against the law for them to engage in inappropriate sexual relationships with underage boys. When we find out about this kind of activity, we will investigate and if appropriate make an arrest."
