9-1-1 recording stirs up emotion in double murder trial

COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Both the prosecution and defense coming out of the gate strong to deliver their opening statements Wednesday, showing this will be anything but a quick and simple trial.

the prosecution's opening remarks focsing on their argument that brett parker planned to kill his wife tammy and business associate bryan capnerhurst based on greed and lust.

The defense painting a much different picture, saying that Capnerhurst was the killer and desperate to collect more than 20 thousand dollars in gambling money parker owed him.

Ten witnesses took the stand Wednesday.

The defense spent a significant amount of time grilling a Lieutenant from the Richland County Sheriffs Department, who moved a gun from Capnerhurst's hand at the scene.

Attorneys arguing the crime scene at Parker's Ascot Estates home was not secure.

The most memorable moment may have been when a chaotic 9-1-1 call parker made that day was played in the courtroom.

Parker broke down while that call played, as well as several others sitting in on the trial.

Most of the witnesses who took the stand Wednesday were with the Richland County Sheriff's Department, others including an EMS worker and a member of the Coroner's Office.
