A footchase leads to two men, from two incidents, going to jail

Mon, 09 Sep 2013 21:44:09 GMT — COLUMBIA, SC (WACH)- Columbia Police have two men under arrest in separate Five Points narcotics investigations. Interim Columbia Police Chief Ruben Santiago said Timothy Love, Jr., 28, is charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute cocaine. He's also facing possession of marijuana, failure to stop on police command, and pedestrian under the influence of alcohol or drugs upon a highway and littering after an incident on Friday night just a few minutes before 11:00. Love is accused of holding cocaine inside of a plastic bag. Santiago said Love dropped the baggie of cocaine on the ground while running from an officer. During the chase, police said Love tried to hide in a parking lot on Greene St. and then darted into the road. Love was arrested just a few minutes after the chase began. Just after midnight, police found another suspect for holding more illegal drugs. That suspect held more than $1,000 in cash as well. An officer arrested Kelly Cokley, 25, and charged him with with two counts of possession of marijuana and manufaturing/ distribution of cocaine. The drugs were found in Cokley's pants, pinned to his underwear. During the search a baggie with more drugs fell out of Cokley's clothes. Officers also confiscated $1200 from Cokley. Soon after the search the officers took Cokley to jail.
