COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) - After a string of several high profile crimes in Five Points, the Columbia Police Department has put together a new plan to keep the community safe.
Interim Police Chief Ruben Santiago laid out the new plan which will have officers focusing more on gangs and weapons.
The Hospitality Zone Task Force leader, John Durst, says they presented the committee with the recommendations to help fight crime in Five Points, which they also plan to share with nearby neighborhoods.
The most recent incident in Five Points happened at Sharkeys early Tuesday morning. Investigators say a nineteen-year-old man hid inside the bar attacking two employees.
