COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The "Art of Healing" exhibit opened today at Tapp's Art Center.
All the artwork featured at the exhibit was created by people suffering physical ailments who use art as a form of healing.
The featured artist is Jim Dukes. He suffered a traumatic brain injury.
Dukes says the artistic photography he takes with his cell phone has helped him heal from the injuries he received while working as a national defense contractor.
"It gets you out of your mind," said Dukes. "It gets you away from all of the thoughts that can be damaging or hurtful. It occupies your mind with something productive and creative and allows you to settle."
The "Art of Healing" exhibit will be on display throughout the month of August at Tapp's Art Center.
