LEXINGTON (WACH)-Avtec Incorporated, a communications technology company, broke ground on a new facility expected to bring 25 new jobs to Lexington county.
Avtec plans to invest over $6 million in the new multi-purpose building, which is expected to be completed in May 2013. The company is currently based in Gilbert and provides Internet Protocol dispatch console solutions for the transportation, public safety, utility, business and government markets.
"What a great day for South Carolina, Lexington County, the Town of Lexington, and especially for Avtecs employees. Its very exciting when a local company that was founded here over 30 years ago continues to invest and reinvest time and time again," said Central SC Alliance chairman Jim Apple. "This multi-million dollar investment represents new jobs for our citizens and new dollars spent in the local community -- all as a result of Avtecs success."
"This is just great for our town. I think it speaks volumes for the town of lexington that we're moving forward and we're very pro business and being very pro business brings jobs which creates economic prosperity and at the end of the day we keep taxes very very low," said Lexington Mayor Randy Halfacre.
