Bond granted for accused chiropractor

WEST COLUMBIA (WACH) -- A West Columbia chiropractor who was released from jail on bond Wednesday has been arrested on the same charge just one day later.

Lexington County officials say 51-year-old Ronald Jeffery Shows is again facing charges that he inappropriately touched patients during his practice.

Friday morning, Shows appeared in bond court, a judge set bond at $50,000 with conditions for his release. Also, the South Carolina Board of Chiropractic Examiners temporarily suspended his license.

A third victim, an 18-year-old woman, came forward claiming Shows had her remove her clothing and touched her private parts in a way that is not part of traditional treatment on November 23, according to Sheriff James Metts. The victim also said Shows commented on her physique. She contacted officials after two previous accusers reported similar information to investigators.

Shows was originally arrested Tuesday afternoon on two charges of second-degree assault and battery.

According to Sheriff Metts, the other two women, who were ages 23 and 35, went to the chiropractor TMs office at 2243-C Leaphart Road near West Columbia.

Officials say Shows was arrested the second time at his office Thursday where he was treating patients.

If convicted the charges carry a maximum punishment of three years in prison and a $2,500 fine.
