Robert Tidwell and Roberta Young appeared in bond court Thursday morning.

Investigators say the two are responsible for Harriet Tidwell's death.

Officers say Harriet Tidwell weighed only 48 pounds when she died earlier this month.

She also had numerous bed sores that were infested with maggots and was so skinny her spinal cord and ribs were visible.

A judge set Robert Tidwell and Roberta Young's bond at $75,000.

Family member Charlene Tidwell says it is all a misunderstanding.

"Well, had he done what the medical profession wanted 10 or 12 years ago he would have allowed them to unplug her, and he wouldn't be going through this," Charlene explained after the hearing. "But because he loved his wife and chose to take care of her, he's going through this. He's guilty of loving her and trying to take care of her and keeping her alive."
