COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Vista patrons got a chance to enjoy a few brews and barbecue Saturday for a good cause.
Hundreds came out to the Carolina Brew and Q at the Flying Saucer in the Vista. Patrons learned about and sampled more than 50 different beers, while also chowing down on barbecue.
The event was also a way to honor Jeremy Letton, a former patron of the Flying Saucer and owner of Garden Bistro. Letton recently died from kidney failure. A portion of the proceeds are going to the National Kidney Foundation.
Flying Saucer Assistant Manager William Cauthem said it is the least they could have done to remember him.
"Jeremy was a great friend of mine," Cauthem said. "He owned that Garden Bistro and spent so much time looking out for me when I was younger coming up in this business; as we all do. It is a service industry community. To be able to give a large donation in his name is a great way to honor him."
