HOPKINS, SC (WACH) -- The South Carolina Dept. of Transportation is planning on replacing a pair of bridges that date back to the 1930s.
The agency held a public meeting Tuesday about the bridges.
The bridges, which hold east and west bound traffic on Garners Ferry Rd., are about ten miles east of Columbia and cover Caughmans Pond.
D.O.T. officials say the bridges are currently safe but are old enough that it is time to replace them.
Federal and state funding will pay for the project.
