COLUMBIA (WACH)- Some Richland School District One schools have told students they aren't allowed to wear camouflage clothes to school or any school events.
Four of the district's high schools Dreher, Keenan, Lower Richland, Columbia forbid the patterns, which law enforcement often associate with gangs. District Communications Director Karen York said all seven of the district's high schools are not allowing students to wear camouflage to football games for the last two weeks of the season, which ends November 1.
York said Richland One's dress code policy doesn't expressly address camouflage clothing, principals have the discretion to ban clothing that poses a threat to school environment or safety.
