A customer is dead after an altercation with a bouncer at a Greenville strip club on Thursday night, deputies said.

The fight happened at the Platinum Plus Gentleman's Club on Frontage Road at about 9 p.m.

Greenville County deputies said the patron, 36-year-old Joseph Collura, of Moore, and a bouncer got into a physical altercation, after he was asked for identification for the second time.

Deputies said that Collura suffered major head and neck injuries and was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

Deputies said they are still trying to determine what happened during the fight that led to Collura's death.

Tom Selfirdge, of the Greenville County Coroner's Office, said that Collura died from asphyxiation as a result of a compression to his neck. He said that Collura suffered a lack of blood flow to his brain, which led to his death.

So far, no charges have been filed.

Deputies said investigators are in the process of interviewing other patrons at the club, which numbered well over 100, to obtain witness accounts of what happened.
