COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The Oliver Gospel Mission celebrated 125 years of service to the Midlands homeless Thursday.
The anniversary gala took place at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
The sold out event of more than 800 people featured a tribute to board member Jim Hudson and the crowd heard from guest speaker Dr. Ben Carson of Johns Hopkins Hospital, who has also authored five books.
It was a chance to honor those who've made an impact in the organization's success over the years.
"It's a great opportunity to really honor what Jesus Christ is doing in the lives of those that we serve and that's what our major focus is tonight," said Wayne Fields, President/CEO of The Oliver Gospel Mission.
