The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce's endorsement of Democrat Vincent Sheheen for governor has Republican Nikki Haley calling the group a fan of corporate welfare.
Chamber leaders Wednesday reaffirmed their support for Sheheen after their favored Republican candidate U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett lost to Haley in the GOP primary.
Haley campaign spokesman Rob Godfrey said Wednesday that the state chamber is a fan of bailouts and corporate welfare.
Sheheen campaign manager Trav Robertson says that criticism should offend business leaders and shows Haley has an adversarial tone with people who create jobs.
Not everyone is going along with the endorsement. Florence lawyer Mark Buyck Jr. resigned from the chamber because members didn't have enough input.
