Chapin man accused of physically abusing 4-month-old child

Tyler Sean-Michael Lambert, 22, was arrested by Lexington County detectives on Thursday and faces a maximum of 20 years in prison if convicted.

LEXINGTON COUNTY (WACH) - A 22-year-old Chapin man is accused of physically abusing a 4-month-old child, according to Lexington County Sheriff James Metts.

Tyler Sean-Michael Lambert, 22, was arrested by Lexington County detectives on Thursday and faces a maximum of 20 years in prison if convicted.

Metts says an arrest warrant alleges the child was assaulted on or about March 17 and was taken to Palmetto Health Children's Hospital on March 26 with serious and life-threatening injuries.

The arrest warrant states the infant had signs of a pattern of physical abuse inflicted over a period of time, which caused the injuries. A doctor trained in child abuse determined the injuries on the child were the result of non-accidental blunt force trauma, according to Metts.

Investigators believe Lambert is the person primarily responsible for the child's injuries.

Lambert is being detained at the Lexington County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing that is scheduled for Friday afternoon.
