CAMDEN, SC (WACH) - The city of Camden is making final preparations for the 82nd annual Carolina Cup.
The horse race is estimated to have nearly 70,000 attendees which has Camden's public safety departments standing by to keep the roads and the race track safe.
Camden police chief, Joe Floyd, says uniform officers will be looking specifically at safety issues such as conduct.
He adds that the plain clothes officers will be looking for under aged drinking and other violations.
"The main purpose of law enforcement is to keep the environment safe," said Chief Floyd.
Floyd says more than 150 officers will be assigned to the race.
Gates plan to open at 9:00 am with the first race starting at 1:30pm.
