Clemson University student charged with breach of trust
CLEMSON, S.C. (WACH) —
A Clemson University student faces breach of trust charges after using a club debit card to make personal purchases.
Mateo Gomez, 22, is charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent. A member of the Clemson University Sailing Club, Gomez used the club's debit card to make personal purchases.
SLED says the purchases are valued at more than $10,000. The felony charge is punishable by a court-decided fine or up to 10 years in prison.
The Clemson University Police Department asked SLED to investigate the purchases.
Gomez is currently being held at the Picken County Detention Center.
