      CMRTA Board accepts funding stipulations

      RICHLAND COUNTY (WACH) -- The Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority approved a temporary funding measure that will keep the struggling system afloat until the end of September at a special meeting Thursday. Richland County and the City of Columbia agreed to infuse over $1 million into the bus system Monday. The money comes on the condition the board hire an executive director and an auditing firm, which it approved Thursday. Board member Bob Liming says a committee could meet as soon as Monday to select a new director. The bus system has been without one for several.
