According to Solicitor Jerry Peace, the indictment against 19-year-old Gregory Collins was handed down in court Friday.
A Newberry County grand jury indicted Collins for the murder of 30-year-old Anthony Hill and the desecration of his remains.
Hill's body was found in Newberry after officials say he was shot to death, then dragged behind a pick-up truck for several miles down rural roads in early June.
Last week, a request was made to put a gag order in place on the case. Instead, a judge agreed to limit the information that can be given out to the public when it comes to this case.
