COLUMBIA (WACH) - The Capital City is becoming more bicycle friendly.
City leaders unveiled two bike parking racks on Wednesday that they hope will open up sidewalks in downtown Columbia.
"We've made tremendous [effort] in our vision to become a truly bicycle and pedestrian friendly city. Today is about celebrating those accomplishments as we take the next step toward making that vision a reality," said Mayor Steve Benjamin.
The effort is another step to help make Columbia one of the most bike friendly cities in the country.
Fifty racks will be installed, and can be purchased for businesses that are interested.
May is also National Bike Month.
