LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WACH) - A man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting has been arrested according to officials.
The Lexington County Sheriffâ??s Department says detectives arrested 20-year-old Gregory Lamont Brooks on arrest warrants. Those warrents included charges of murder, unlawful possession of a handgun by a person who was convicted of a violent crime that is a felony, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Brooks is linked to fatally shooting Brandon Ratliff with a handgun during a verbal dispute in the parking lot of Cockpit Bar & Grill in February.
Officials say multiple witnesses identified Brooks as the person who shot Ratliff, but he provided detectives with false information concerning his whereabouts during the time of the shooting.
Ratliff was shot while trying to mediate a dispute involving Brooks and several others outside the bar.
Officials say the shooting remains under investigation.
