Columbia native makes history in Charlotte mayoral election
CHARLOTTE (WACH)-A Columbia Native made history during Tuesday night's election in Charlotte.
Vi Lyles was elected the the area's first black, female mayor and will be Charlotte's sixth mayor since 2009.
She attended Queens College and has a lengthy career as a public servant.
Lyles served as Assistant City Manager and City Council Member.
The mayor-elect received 59 percent of the vote, and will be sworn in December fourth.
