Columbia teen arrested and charged after allegedly trying to break into cars

COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) – A Columbia teen has been arrested in connection with a car break-in investigation, according to the Columbia Police Department.

Nineteen-year-old Raheem Antwann Brown has been charged with breaking into a motor vehicle and larceny.

Brown is accused of pulling on several car door handles shortly after midnight Sunday, June 18 along the 600 and 700 blocks of Meadow Street.

The department says Brown was detained at the 2300 block of Blossom Street after receiving a description of Brown. Brown then confessed to pulling on car door handles and breaking into at least two cars during his interview with police.

Brown is accused of stealing ammunition and vehicle paperwork, including insurance documents from one vehicle.

The stolen items were recovered and collected as evidence in the case.
