Columbia woman charged with Unlawful Conduct Toward a Child

COLUMBIA (WACH) - Police have arrested 29 year old Devin S. Timmons and charged her with Unlawful Conduct Toward a Child. Police say Timmons left her 2 year old at a home in the Congaree Point neighborhood while she went to another County with another of her children. She also has a 5 and 6 year old who were said to be at school at the time.

A man driving on Atlas Road around 10:30 Friday morning and saw the 2-year-old wandering alone on the side of the road. The child didn't appear physically injured, however her clothes were reportedly wet. The man picked up the child and then drove to Bibleway Church of Atlas Road.

Two people at the church took care of the child until police arrived. A Richland County Deputy who was close to the area began knocking doors in the Congaree Point neighborhood, and found a home with the front door open and found a photograph of a woman that they he took to the church, where someone recognized the woman in the picture. Officers called Devin Timmons. She came to the church and was questioned about the child found wandering, and arrested and taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
