COLUMBIA (WACH) - Columbia's "top cop" received his fourth star from Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin and city council Tuesday night.
Chief Randy Scott was honored with his fourth star as a sympolic gestrure for his dedication and commitment to Columbia citizens Monday night in the City Council Chambers. This is the first time a City of Columbia Police Chief has earned a fourth star, according to the Columbia Police Deparment.
??This is such a wonderful honor for me. I am especially pleased that my parents could take part. I am grateful that Mayor Benjamin and Council have faith and confidence in me and Columbia police officers. I wear this fourth star for the entire Department. We will continue to move this city forward in a positive direction," said Chief Scott.
According to the department, Mayor Benjamin and city council wanted to begin a new tradition of having a 4-star Chief leading the police department.
