COLUMBIA (WACH) -- A rainy and cool weather pattern is shaping up for the Midlands.
Temperatures will be well below normal for August and the chance for rain is plentiful on our 7 Day Planner.
A cold front will pass by the Midlands Wednesday and stall out towards the coast. This will give us a 70% chance of showers and few storms.
The best chance for thunderstorms is in the eastern half of the Midlands along the cold front.
A cold air wedge or cold air damming event will begin Wednesday as well as winds shift out of the northeast behind the front.
High pressure will build in and bring with it cooler air from the northeast.
The stalled front gives us rain chances through the weekend with unseasonable temperatures in the upper-70s for some.
Our normal daytime high temperature is 91 degrees at Columbia Metropolitan Airport.
As far as the rainfall goes, we could see anywhere from 2-4 inches over the next 5-7 days.
