COLUMBIA (WACH)--Law enforcement officiers from divisions across Lexington and Richland counties head to the roof of Krispy Kreme to support Special Olympics athletes.
"Cops on Top of Krispy Kreme Shops" is a national partnership between Law Enforcement for Special Olympics and Krispy Kreme.
Organizers say in 2012, the fundraising event raised $73,000 statewide with $45,000 generated over the three days of the Columbia area locations. This year's goal is $100,000.
Other sites have been held this year in Myrtle Beach (raised $14,500), Greenville ($20,000), Rock Hill ($8600) and Florence ($3000).
The fundraising effort runs through Friday.
All funds go directly to Special Olympics South Carolina programs to support the 22, 036 athletes who train and compete year-round in our state.
