COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH)-- EdVenture Childrens museum and The United Way of the Midlands are hosting the tenth annual Countdown to Kindergarten celebration from 5pm to 8pm on Friday, Aug. 9 at the museum.
Admission to the museum isf ree and will feature costumed characters, games, face painting, karaoke, information booths, and resources for parents on keeping kids safe and healthy. The children can also visit a mock classroom, practice boarding a school bus and carrying a lunch trey.
Health personnel will also be providing free dental and vision screenings to children, while parents will have the opportunity to connect with representatives from school districts, state agencies and community organizations to learn about the educational, health and community resources available to them.
This statewide initiative led by Edventure also includes The Childrens Museum of the Upstate in Greenville, Main Street Childrens Museum in Rock Hill, Childrens Museum of South Carolina in Myrtle Beach, The Sandbox Childrens Museum in Hilton Head and The Childrens Museum of the Lowcountry in Charleston.
Countdown to Kindergarten is sponsored by Boeing with additional support provided by Nelson Mullins, South Carolina Dental Association, Target, Wal-Mart, United Way of the Midlands, TD Bank, Select Health, and K12 South Carolina Virtual Charter School.
