COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Two daughters of a Columbia man in a wheelchair who was struck and killed by a dump truck last year have sued the truck driver and the company for which he was working.
The State newspaper reported (http://bit.ly/1cUGg5i) that Jacquelyn Jackson and Iris Jackson are suing P&S Construction Co. and the truck driver, William Crutchfield.
Sixty-seven-year-old George Jackson was in a motorized wheelchair and was struck and killed as he crossed a street in Columbia on June 25, 2012.
The daughters say their father had the right of way when he crossed the street.
Attorneys for Crutchfield and the construction company say Jackson was negligent in crossing the street at that time. They also say the death was an unavoidable accident.
The attorneys involved in the case would not comment.
